We have the same cast of characters on our street. I think squirrels are universal.

Yes, and I think grey squirrels have jumped the pond because I think they’ve invaded Britain if not also Europe. Isn’t it something, though, that so many critters coexist with human-made bizarro environments?

They've learned to manipulate us into thinking they're cute. Whereas rats (squirrels without the cuteness) survive by guile.

Having a camera to capture the Critters at night is a special privilege. Seeing the cat and then the Raccoons drinking water was a special treat for me. Not many people realize that animals need access to clean drinking water, especially in Urban areas. I live with my son and daughter-in- law in a rural area, woods all around us and access to a river with beach access. It is like paradise and I express gratitude for nature’s sanctuary.

I enjoyed your essay about all critters. ❤️❤️🐾🐾

Thank you so much, Anna. Your environs do sound like paradise. Heaven on earth. How lucky we are to coexist with so many beautiful animals.

Jeanne,

What a lovely and serene post you’ve written. It’s heartening with the noise of the trucks and the world going by that you can capture all this nature. I’m in awe of the cohabitation of the critters as they go about their merry way.

I watch the ducks and the Canadian geese from my backyard too. The ducks certainly bring the drama! The fallacy that they pair off and live happily ever after has proven untrue.

Thanks for taking the time to write and film the adventures in your yard. Beautiful work.

Thank you very much, Colleen. There's so much going on in our yards when we stop to notice. Do birds bring the drama because they're so vocal?
